Wildcat Football Update

Today, CIF San Diego Section Commissioner Joe Heinz released the following statement:

“Prior to the 2025 season, El Camino High School requested that the San Diego Section of CIF review and confirm the eligibility status of a student athlete planning to participate in athletics under a state-approved Multi-School Agreement. Based on the information provided, the San Diego Section informed El Camino High School that the student athlete was authorized to participate in CIF-sanctioned events under the State-Approved Multi-School Agreement currently in place for the Oceanside Unified School District.

After a subsequent review by the school, it was determined that the student athlete was participating in an educational program not permissible or included in the State-Approved Multi-School Agreement for the district. Consequently, the student athlete should not have been deemed eligible to participate in CIF-sanctioned events for the 2025 season.”

As a result of this clarification, El Camino High School will forfeit its first win of the season. While the decision is disappointing, we want to emphasize that the school acted in good faith by proactively seeking CIF review and approval prior to the season.

We remain committed to our student-athletes and will continue to represent Wildcat Football with pride, resilience, and integrity. Thank you, Wildcat families, for your continued support of our players, coaches, and school community.
